Club Update – January 26, 2022
To Convenors, Captains, players, officials and timekeepers of KWOHC:
Please stress the following change in entrance protocol: Along with acceptable photo ID, arena entrance staff will only accept a QR code as proof of vaccination.
Our league play will resume play on Monday, January 31, 2022.
Please read the following expectations and guidelines.
All Safety Plans are still in place and must be followed (available on the KWOHC website).
With the current variant and the high transmission rate, protocols must be followed.
Masks must be worn at all times while not on the playing surface or bench.
This is of particular importance and needs to be adhered to in changerooms prior to the game as well as after the game.
KWOHC is requesting captains to ensure that pool players are limited to playing one game per night.
Please enter each facility through the designated entrance and consider the extra time required for all these checks when arriving at the facilities.
Covid screening protocols will continue to be handled prior to each game.
The following items where released to the league from the City of Kitchener and Waterloo. Please note the highlighted change in proof of vaccination.
As of Tuesday, January 4, we can only accept a QR code as proof of vaccination
1.The province is requiring the use of the enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code and the Verify Ontario app. The QR code can be used digitally or by printing a paper copy.
2. You can download your enhanced certificate with QR code by visiting https://covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine/
As of Monday, January 10, for access to rinks the cities will no longer accept doctor’s notes for exemptions, only the enhanced vaccine certificate with a QR code
- The province is strengthening the verification process for medical exemptions and clinical trial exemptions by requiring a certificate with a QR code.
- We can no longer accept physician notes as of January 10, 2022
50% capacity limit
- At your next ice time, you will notice that there are dressing room capacities posted on each door.
- If the dressing room is at capacity, there are chairs set up outside the dressing rooms that you can use
In effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, we are making the following recommendations:
1. Reduce the number of spectators in the facility i.e. no spectators for adult groups
2. Have players come as dressed as much as possible and ready to play
3. Keep safe dressing room protocols - minimize time spent in dressing rooms, wear masks, and keep distanced
4. Remind all participants of the requirement to wear masks at all times while not on the playing surface or bench
5. Keep distanced wherever possible, and do not congregate in lobbies or hallways
6. Eliminate indoor team social activity
7. Continue to ensure participants and volunteers being screened for COVID-19in advance and showing proof of vaccination and ID upon entry

Covid-19 Update – Nov 11, 2021:
To KWOHC members,
We are extremely fortunate to have the opportunities to play the game we enjoy and
the social interaction it provides. The executive worked with due diligence to ensure
this year would start and continue to be a safe and positive experience for all the
players.
As we near the end of our first month back on the ice, we want to reiterate the
importance of following our Covid protocols.
We have seen the reintroduction of showers and the removal of limits in the
changerooms. With like changes across the province and the overall opening up of
Ontario, Covid infections are on the rise. It is important at this time to remain
vigilant and follow all necessary steps.
Most of us are wearing our masks in the dressing room prior to the game, but few
are wearing masks in the dressing room after the game.
You may not deem it significant to you, however, this virus does not know
boundaries. You cant call it out like a player on your team, it does not stop at the
goal line or take a rest between shifts. When our helmets are on, or you are in the
shower, are the only times your mask does not need to be on. You are protecting
yourself, your fellow players and the ability to keep the KWOHC season functioning.
Please continue to refrain from sharing water bottles, keep your glove on when fist
bumping, no spitting and maintain proper distancing when the space allows, and
most importantly WEAR YOUR MASK.
Thank you for doing your part.
